Footwear TipsDog Booties, not just for a fashion statement!! Prevent paw damage and extend your adventure with dog-specific boots!
![]() Why would dogs ever need to wear protective boots?
Humans are increasing the rate in which they incorporate pets into their activities. Thanks to dog-specific gear that allows dogs to keep up with our own gear-enhanced activities, man’s best friend can now accompany us on our adventures. Pets are exposed to situations and conditions that they may not confront on a daily basis. These new ever-changing environmental conditions can cause pads, which are perfectly conditioned for one environment, to become blistered and cut in the new environment.
Doggie shoes help to keep your dogs feet protected from hot gravel, jaggered stones, broken glass, cigarettes, allergens, burrs, ticks, rocks, metal objects, salt, sand, dirt, mud, snow, ice or any abrasive surface.
They keep their paws clean for when they get to go for trips in the car, and dry when it is raining. They are especially good for poochies who don’t like to get their feet wet when they go outside for toiles!
They also help to protect your furniture, scratching on hardwood floors, leather upholstery, boat seats, swimming pool liners and sensitive skin from dog nails!
Here are some of our customer reviews:
![]() Our Fox Terrier, Lacey cut her front
paw quite badly at our local park
by a broken glass bottle.We don’t
let her go for her daily walk now
without her doggie “chuck taylor”
dogverse shoes! She doesn’t mind
wearing them and we feel better
not having to worry about where
she does or doesn’t step!
Thanks, My Pets Wardrobe!

How do you size dog booties? Size does matter. Incorrectly sized dog booties will not perform well. On our site you each product has a size chart for a set of four boots. Once you have selected the size based on the chart we always suggest actually fitting the booties on the dog when you receive them to make certain of a good fit.
How do you get a dog used to new dog booties? Undo the laces, zip or Velcro and slide the foot right down into the base of the shoe. You can test this by sliding you finger down behind the back of the leg and feeling where the foot is in the shoe. If the foot is not in place, the shoe may slip off. When the foot is in the correct place, lace or zip up shoe so it is snug around the leg. Once you have the booties in place go out and engage in your pup's favourite activity: chasing a ball, catching a flying disk or just running. For dogs who won’t walk in the shoes entice them with their favourite treat. During the first week of wearing shoes, try to put them on your dogs feet for 1 hour per day, this will get them used to the shoes. When they can walk comfortably in the booties you and your buddy are ready to explore! Use common sense and allow some time for your dog to become accustomed to the booties on daily walks. Just as you would never go out on a big hike with new hiking boots, start off on easy hikes and work into the big ones with your dog's new footwear. Also allow breathing time for your dogs paws. Footwear should not be left over for over 5 hours at a time.
